Abstract

A review of Mark Cushing's book, Pet Nation: The Love Affair That Changed America with additional comments on why six human demographic and cultural changes could reduce American demand for pets. These socioeconomic changes include changes in population age structure, ethnicity, urbanization, living alone, fewer children and household economic shifts.
