Abstract
Nearly three decades after concerns were raised about the lack of safety information for high-production-volume chemicals, significant progress has been made in both chemical data collection and testing technologies. This article explores the scale of the chemical safety challenge, the limitations of traditional animal testing, and the growing role of artificial intelligence and New Approach Methods (NAMs) in delivering faster, more human-relevant, and more efficient chemical risk assessments.
