Abstract
The 2025 EAT-Lancet Commission Report presents a comprehensive scientific update on how global food systems can be transformed to nourish people while preserving planetary boundaries. Building on its influential 2019 framework, the Commission reaffirms the benefits of a largely plant-rich “Planetary Health Diet,” coupled with sustainable farming, reduced food loss and waste, and equitable food access. It finds that adopting such diets worldwide could prevent up to 15 million premature deaths annually, significantly reduce food-related greenhouse gas emissions, and address deep inequities in food security. The report calls for systemic change across policy, production, and consumption to deliver healthier, more sustainable, and just food systems for all.
