Abstract

A study of households dealing with pets with problem behaviors found that owners tended to fall into one of four themes for dealing with the problem animal. These were the challenges posed by caring for the animals, the emotional ups and downs (mostly downs) of dealing with the behavior, the strategies used to cope with the behavior and problems in understanding what was happening and in finding support to help deal with the issue.
