Nexus between Animal Welfare, Environment and Sustainable Development

In March of 2022, the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA – the “parliament” and governing body for the United Nations Environment Program - UNEP) passed by consensus a Resolution emphasizing the importance of animal welfare to the environment and sustainable development. The resolution requested the UNEP Executive Director to produce a report exploring the links (widely referred to as the Nexus) between Animal Welfare, the Environment, and Sustainable Development.

This exhibit provides resources addressing the Nexus, including "Nexus Between Animal Welfare, Environment and Sustainable Development: Resource Document," which introduces the reader to the nexus complexities and includes detailed analysis, "Unveiling the Nexus: The interdependence of animal welfare, environment & sustainable development," a resource for policymakers, and support documents.
